Huawei Ascend G7 Launched in the Philippines

It has finally here. Huawei Philippines via their Facebook account has officially announced that the Ascend G7 has just been launched in the Philippines. The Ascend G7 can now be purchased for Php12,990 from any Huawei Brand Shop nationwide.

When it was announced late last year, the device was called Ascend G7 but now for some reason Huawei is ditching the Ascend naming off calling this device just G7 according to the announcement image above that was posted on their Facebook page. However the smartphone remains the same in terms of appearance and specs offered.

Right out of the box users will get a 5.5-inch HD display or 720p resolution. And then on the inside, there is a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with a 2GB of RAM and a 16GB internal storage. MicroSD card is still supported, thankfully, but only up to 32GB.

This is part I like about this particular device, the cameras. On the back there is a 13MP camera all powered with Backside Illumination, f/2.0 lens. This is a nice combination here where it all works for the device to capture more light when taking photos thus producing a better photo quality even captured in dark environment. For the front facing camera there is a 5MP one and hopefully there is more to this like an autofocus, wide angle lens.

Huawei Ascend G7 specs:

- 5.5" HD display
- 1280 x 720 resolution, 267ppi
- 1.2GHz quad-core processor
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- Supports microSD card up to 32GB
- 13MP rear camera with BSI, f/2.0 lens, AF and flash
- 5MP front camera
- Android 4.4 Kitkat with Emotion UI 3.0
- WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
- 4G LTE
- 153.5 x 77.3 x 7.6 mm
- 165 g
- 3,000mAh
- Php12,990

Now I think the asking price of Php12,990 is a bit expensive for what the Ascend G7 is offering. I would like the device of have at least Full HD or 1080p resolution instead of just 720p, I am fine with the 2GB RAM size, an octa-core processor would also be much better, Android Lollipop too. A lot of local companies are already offering new smartphones with Android Lollipop for a very very low price. The 3,000mAh battery is a steal here, I believe it is more than enough for users to last all throughout the day from moderate to heavy usage.

I hope I can get have a quick hands on with this device to see more of what this can do for us and to see more reason why we should pay almost Php13K for this smartphone. I am pretty sure there is more to those specs above and that is smartphone can provide, and I want to know what those are.
