SM Cinema to Show Tagalized Versions of These Popular Asian Films

SineAsia Theater is the brainchild of the latest collaboration between SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc and Viva International Pictures. Their aim is to bring popular never-before-seen Asian films in the country and that are already dubbed in Tagalog language. The first movie to be translated in Filipino is the latest film "Gangnam Blues" which stars Korean heartthrob Lee Min Ho.

SM Cinemas and Walter Mart Cinemas will show these movies in their select branches nationwide and will dedicate a cinema theater just for these films. Depending on the audience's response more and more cinema houses will be added in the future.

We are definitely not new to this kind of format where a foreign movie or teleserye is being dubbed in the local language when broadcasted not just in movie houses but most especially in TV platform. As far as I can remember it started with Marimar a Mexicanovela back in the 90s and continues up to these days and I think that is one of the reasons why these big entertainment companies have teamed up to bring these films to our shore in our own language.

SineAsia will debut in March and like what I have mentioned above, Lee Min Ho's Gangam Blues will be the first to release. Below are some of other Asian films that we can expect to follow,

- Rise of the Legend
- Out of Inferno
- From Vegas to Macau
- Once Upon a Time in Shanghai
- SPL II
- Mourning Grave
- My Love, My Bride

As of writing there are eight confirmed SM Cinemas to participate in SineAsia Program and those are eight SM Cinema multiplexes: SM Megamall, SM Sta. Mesa, SM Fairview, SM Iloilo, SM Bacoor, SM Cebu, SM Manila and SM North EDSA..
