Samsung Unveils Gear S a Standalone Curved Display Smartwatch

Samsung just announced its new smartwatch offering for us called Gear S. It is a 2-inch smartwatch with curved display featuring a Super AMOLED display and resolution of 480x360 pixels. This wrist worn device is not just a typical device of its type we see around, it can go solo, perhaps the "S" in the naming stands for it, it has its own 3G connectivity functionality.

That means the Gear S can still make or receive calls with out the need to continuously being near a smartphone companion. Even if the phone is not around users can still make and receive calls using the watch with the help of the separately sold and newly unveiled headset called Gear Circle (see photos below).
