Samsung Launches "Auto Blocker" For Galaxy Users

Samsung Auto Blocker

Samsung Galaxy devices will now be more secured and protected than ever before as the Korean electronic giant has just launched a new security tool for its smartphone users called the Auto Blocker, which promises to provide new level of device and user protection. This new security feature was launched alongside the most recent Android 14 with OneUI 6 software update.

So what is this Auto Blocker? Samsung describes this as an opt-in package of additional security measures that will give users additional choice as they explore the customizations enabled by Samsung Galaxy's open ecosystem.

One of Auto Blocker's main features is to prevent or block app installations from unauthorized sources such as sideloading. Now, we know safe sideloading still has some benefits, so it does not mean that sideloading apps will be completely blocked with Auto Block, the feature is turned off by default. That means, you can turn on and off anytime you want or need. Still complete freedom to users but added option to keep their device safe.

Another thing is Auto Blocker has is the option to turn on controls that can detect potential malware in the phone's system as well as preventing harmful commands and software installations via USB cable. Samsung says this will help users in a situation where someone has physical access to their device such as when charging their phones at the airport.

Samsung also added that this feature comes with an update to Message Guard, which mitigates Zero Click attacks, or direct image messages hiding malicious code. This particular feature was initially released for messaging apps from Google and Samsung, but it now also works on third party apps and social media platforms.

These days we have more valuable information stored on our phones and device than ever before. With this, comes with a lot of attention from hackers with the only intention of getting as many information (or money) as they possibly can from unsuspecting users. That being said, I think it is definitely a great  security tool if you are a Samsung user.
