Cherry Mobile One and MyPhone Uno the First Android One Smartphones Have Arrived

Google's Android One Initiative has finally launched in the Philippines a couple of days ago. This program aims to bring the latest Android experience in the emerging markets with Google-approved smartphones by partnering with local brands and also to produce phones with very competitive specs and very affordable price tags.

The Google Android One Initiative was first unveiled in  third quarter of last year and India was the first market to have the taste of the latest Android treat. That time it was the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat was the most up-to-date mobile OS in town. One of the highlights of having Android One certified smartphones is that users will get a direct software update from Google for the next two years.

Google partnered with the local brands in India to launch the first batch of Android One smartphones there, since the newest and latest Android OS the 5.0 Lollipop was released in November, those who already had the device under this program did receive the over-the-air update to Android Lollipop.

Other countries followed suit and then just two days ago the Philippines has officially become the latest member of the party. With the launch of the initiative, MyPhone and Cherry Mobile are the first ones to move forward with the collaboration with Google announcing the MyPhone Uno and Cherry Mobile One smartphones.

The two smartphones share almost the same specs, as they have to follow Google's guidelines for the said project, except for some minor differences. One most notable difference is the default internal storage, 8GB for Cherry Mobile One and 4GB for MyPhone Uno, then the rest is just the same. See their specs below.

Now, knowing that the Cherry Mobile One has more internal storage than the MyPhone Uno I immediately assumed that the One would be priced higher than the Uno, but that was not the case here. These two smartphones will also be available on postpaid plans both from Smart and Sun Cellular.
